THE SKATE RAMP

Saturday was Michael's first day of a two week break from school. This is such a treat for all of us, since his school work typically consumes most of his weekend time. So, today while Mommy took Ava to have her pictures taken, Daddy took the other three to pick up a couple of "supplies." He had been promising the boys that he would help them build a real skateboarding ramp...and today was the day. Jack and Elijah were so excited to have a project planned with Daddy, they could hardly wait to get it started. Mommy and Ava got home, we had a quick lunch, and they were off. The first step was to cut the wood and do the actual building part of the project. This took them a couple hours, but they didn't seem to mind one bit. Daddy then let them take a few practice runs on it to see if it worked....it did!! Next, it came into the house for the final paint. Oh boy, let me tell you that my kids can paint with the best of them. If anyone who reads this doesn't know Michael, I should let you know that he is quite the artist himself. So, all of our children have inherited his creative gene to some extent. They started with a green ramp, which quickly changed to green with red primitive type people on it, which then changed to yellow.......whew! Mommy was only allowed downstairs to take a couple of pictures, then I was shuttled back upstairs to make sure Tessa kept her little fingers out of the goo!! At one point, Michael had to send Ava up for a tub since she became bored with painting the ramp, and decided that painting her face would be much more fun. Ha...it was quite the sight!

They all finished when Mommy became to hungry to delay dinner for one more minute!! It was dry by morning and they have been playing on it ever since they got home from church. I love these family projects, they really create some lasting memories that I will cherish forever!!
