Well...Ava's big day has finally arrived!! This afternoon Mommy took Ava to her very first dance class. She has been asking to go to dance for quite some time now. We weren't able to put her in a monthly class, so when we saw this class offered through community ed, we jumped at it. It is at Northcrest, which is the same place that Jack goes for gymnastics. She was so excited to put on a dancing outfit (thank you cousin Ehrin!) and get her hair pulled back like a princess (actually she thought it looked liked her friend Greta Goo!) Well, the time came and we were off! Mommy was unsure how she would react leaving and following the teacher all on her own. I was so pleasantly surprised. I gave her a quick kiss and hug and assured her that this WAS NOT a baby class, but a BIG GIRL class. That's all it took, she was off. It was so much fun for me to watch her dancing with the teachers. She did everything they told her to do...followed orders like a real pro! Every once in a while she would noticed that she had accidentally drifted off of her designated X and she would scoot her little tush right back where it was supposed to be. I have to admit it, I think she may have had the best little "tushie shake" in the whole class...something that she takes great pride in:)
After half an hour, they moved into the little gym for some tumbling. Again, she amazed me for how well she listened and participated. She got to jump on a big trampoline, hang on a bar, walk the balance beam, and do all sorts of tumbling things. Before we both knew it, class was over. She bounced out of the gym and ran straight over to me. The only thing she could think of to say was "Mommy, did you see me being a monkey?" "Yes dear, you're a great little monkey, and tiger, and elephant!!" (Obviously they did a dance where they pretended to be animals!)
The verdict is in...Ava loved dance, she can't wait for next week!!!
