Our night started out with the Peterson family coming over for games, sledding, jumping on the trampoline and pizza. Everything was going just swell......that is until Ava decided to lick, yes I said lick, the frozen trampoline outside. Now mind you, this was just after Daddy said "Ava, don't put your tongue on that metal, it will freeze to it and hurt really, really bad." I guess she didn't believe him because the next thing you know astronauts in outer space could probably hear her bellowing from our backyard. Sure thing, she came in the front door dripping blood from her tongue...good grief!
So, we recovered from that and got the older kids started on Monopoly Jr. and the little kids were playing a dancing game and watching a princess movie. Again, things quickly changed when Tessa starting throwing up all over the place. Seriously, it was like one minute she was fine, the next minute she's sick. Needless to say the Peterson clan decided it was best for them to leave. Probably a great idea since Tessa threw up consistently every 20 minutes until 3:30 am..... no kidding. Poor baby!!! We let the older kids stay up until 11:00 when New York celebrated, then we decided it was best that they get away from Tessa and hit the hay. Ava did enjoy her "camp out" on the boys floor.
All in all, it was a bummer way to say goodbye to 2009, but one that we'll remember for a long time to say the least!! We all look forward to 2010, and with that ending things can only look up:)
