Earth Day 1K

Jack, Elijah and Ava getting ready to hit the starting gates for their big race!

The boys showing off their medals with pride!

Ava was so thrilled to earn her very first medal.

Little Tessa didn't run, but she was a great cheerleader!

Once again this year, the Grabinski family took part in the Earth Day festivities at St. Cloud State. Jack, Elijah and Ava all signed up to run the kids 1K run (which is about .6 of a mile, a long way for little legs!). We had been practicing a little bit at the house. Mommy wanted them to understand how to run that far, it's a little bit different than running to the mailbox and back. So, when race day came, they were fully prepared for a lengthy run...they were actually so very excited for it. Ava kept telling me that the ticket to being a good runner is to "just keep running and don't stop." Very good Ava!!! And...that is exactly what they all did. I was so proud of all three of them. They all ran their little legs off...including Ava! Jack ran ahead of all of us, so he was on his own most of the time (this made Mommy very proud of my big 8 year old)! Elijah and Mommy ran together and he really gave it everything he had.....he did awesome. Now, Daddy and Ava brought in the rear together. Michael said she did so well, only got distracted by other things a couple of times. Although, he said she never, ever stopped.....just veered off course a bit.. That is so typical of our "stop to smell the flowers" girl!!
All in all, it was a great night and the kids all felt so proud of what they had accomplished. They are all asking when they can do another one. I think we can accommodate that request!!!
