My Poor, Sweet Baby Tessa

Oh...my poor, sweet baby Tessa. She has had a very rough past couple of days. She has been sick now for 2 full days and doesn't show any signs of improvement. Yesterday she made Mommy feel better by at least being willing to drink a little bit. That all changed today when she started refusing even her favorite, 7-up. I called the doctor this morning and they told me to bring her in right away. Without fluids, and with diarrhea they feared she may become dehydrated. So, late this morning I brought her to the clinic where they quickly decided that she needed to be put on iv fluids for rehydration. They gave me the choice of being admitted to the hospital and spending the night, or going to outpatient and having her go home to sleep with the iv still in place. Mommy opted to do outpatient care since it would be very difficult for her and Mommy to spend the night in the hospital. They did some blood work and found that she was indeed dehydrated and her blood sugars were also low. So they gave her fluids for dehydration, then some glucose water to bring her sugars up. We were able to come home right around supper time...with her arm nicely bandaged!

However, we are far from being in the clear. Shortly after we got home she started vomiting again. This was so disappointing since we thought she was through with that part of the virus. She also still has diarrhea and a slight temp, so we will keep praying...and praying...and praying!!

We'll be back at the outpatient center tomorrow for another round of fluids. We will pray that this is all that she needs...oh, and our tiny little girl has lost a whooping 3 pounds in 2 days. That's alot when you only weight 21 pounds.
