First of all, please excuse the fact that I failed to put the final "e" on the word adventure for the scrapbook. I would have fixed it, but frankly it seemed like far too much trouble!
So, this past weekend our family headed up to Brainerd for a delayed celebration for Jack's 8th birthday. He decided this year that he didn't want a big birthday party. Instead, he wanted to spend a night at a hotel with his family...ahhh, isn't he sweet! However, of course we invited the Peterson family to join us for some fun on Saturday....technically they ARE family! We arrived at the hotel around noon on Saturday and wasted no time getting our swimsuits on. He all headed downstairs to the waterpark....Mommy too! The kids had so much fun enjoying all the slides, buckets, spray hoses and other such wet stuff!! Tess and Mommy stayed in the kiddie area for the most part, but did manage to make it around the lazy river several times. Mommy would swim behind the tube, and Tess would ride....what fun.
Around 5:00 we headed back upstairs to the room since everyone was famished from going up and down the stairs at least a thousand times (that's what the kids said)! We thought we would treat the kids to dinner out, which we haven't done since.....oh I can't even remember. We went across the street to Dave's Bar-b-que. Jack was in heaven, let me tell ya!! I have never seen a child enjoy bar-b-qued ribs quite as much as he did. He is usually the first one done, but not tonight. He took his sweet time and got every last piece of meat off of those ribs....and he was quite a sight when he was done:)
Back at the hotel we quickly bathed the kids and got them ready for bed. They were all very tired (Mommy and Daddy included) and were ready to hit the sack. The hotel had a separate little room that had two sets of bunkbeds. Perfect for us...for now anyway! Even our sweet little Tessa slept in her first big girl bed that night, she did so great. But, around 2 in the morning she woke up and was on fire! She started running a temp and did not sleep well the rest of the night. Needless to say, as soon as Target opened at 8am, Mommy was there buying her some Motrin. This put a little damper on the day, but not much. We headed down to breakfast and then Daddy and the three oldest suited up once again for some splish-splashin!!
We headed home around 11am and just chilled out the rest of the day. Do I even need to tell you how hard it was to get my kids out of bed this morning. The first thing Jack said was "why does time go by so fast when you're having fun, and not when I'm in school?" Well, dear Jack, that's the way life goes....so enjoy the precious moments while they last!!!
