Home Sweet Home

Well...it has been an extremely long week for our entire family. The older kids are out of sorts because Mommy, Daddy and Tessa all had spent nights away. And of course Tessa is out of sorts because she has been so sick. Mommy is out of sorts because bills were left unpaid, laundry left undone, dust left where it lay...I think you get the point. Of course we can't forget Daddy, who is more than likely out of sorts because he had to try and fill in all the gaps....ugghhh. But I am pleased to announce that we are all now home sleeping under one roof again. Mommy stayed with Tessa in the hospital for the her second night last night, still on the iv drip of fluids for her refusal to drink and constant diarrhea. Well, today she turned a corner and he diarrhea got a little better and she worked up an incredible appetite. Still, with that being said, my dear sweet (not stubborn at all) daughter would still not drink anything at all, not even jell-o by this point. The doctor made it clear early in the day that if she still refused to drink by the afternoon, then she would need to stay at least another night until that desire returned. So, they turned off the iv early this afternoon and waited...and waited..and waited. It was nearly 4 in the afternoon, and Mommy had had enough of the hospital room (which we couldn't leave because of her contagious infection). So I pleaded with the doctor to discharge her. I believed that she may be more encouraged to drink in a much less threatened environment...HOME!!!

So, Tessa and Mommy came home around 5 this evening and got her started with some yogurt right away. Poor Jack, I think he was maybe more concerned than Mommy was that his little sis wasn't drinking. He would keep offering it to her, and show her how good juice tasted. It both was heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. The Lord truly place a compassion heart in that boy of mine, he is always looking out for the little ones!! Of course Elijah and Ava were equally as concerned I'm sure...they just don't express it. They were VERY excited to see her and vice-a-versa. In fact, Beeba (that's what Tess calls her) was sleeping on the floor when we got home, and Tessa went right over to wake her up and say "hi." Then she went downstairs to find Bubba (that's Eli) and he was overjoyed at the sight of her. They cuddled in the rocking chair for quite a while!

Anyway...when we returned home she still refused to drink. Mommy thought that if we just went about our nightly routine, she may just fall into it without thinking. And....what do you know....she did!! That little stinker:) She sucked down half a bottle of boiled milk (that's what G. Kelm said to do for diarrhea:) and went to bed. I thought Jack was going to start running around with sheer excitement. We were praising the Lord that she finally had some fluids and are now praying that the diarrhea stays at bay!

Whew...that's it...what a long week!!
